Arundhati Patel

Arundhati Patel

is currently a freshman communication design student at Syracuse University. She has a name that several find difficult to pronounce, yet meaningful to her as it is an alternative name for the star next to the sixth star on the Ursa Major Constellation. Arundhati was born and raised in North Potomac, Maryland, but spent a few years abroad in India. Her optimistic outlook on her experiences abroad and return home may possibly be presented in the form of a graphic novel, as it did serve as significant inspiration for a lot of her artwork. She also loves the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts video game series, in case you were curious.

Layout Themes

Version 1 - Polaris

It was a huge risk for me to take this approach rather than a clean, versatile, modern design. I wanted to have fun and be creative with my layout design since it is a site that reflects me, so I decided to make a surreal image using my favorite analagous color scheme (purple, blue, pink). I drew the illustration of the goddess and "Aru PaStel" on illustrator; the rest was digitally painted and manipulated on photoshop (I did not use any photographs for this layout). There are a few constellations such as the Ursa Major and Aries that I added in. Lastly, you may have noticed that the "A" looks very similar to the necklace I'm wearing in my blog header. The significance of that necklace is a secret...just kidding! It was a gift from an old friend. Since this is my first layout for AruPaStel, I decided to make it expressive and personal.
